Corten steel

The BonFeu BonBowls consist of high-quality products. This, because the products are made of 3mm thick Corten steel.

Corten steel, also known by the brand name COR-TEN steel, is a metal alloy consisting of iron to which copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel and chromium have been added. Its strength is similar to that of other alloy steels, such as stainless steel. Corten steel is a weatherproof steel and its brown rust colour is its most typical appearance. The rust-coloured and very dense oxide skin shields the deeper material from oxygen, greatly slowing oxidation, although in cavities full of water, corrosion does continue. The oxide layer makes it unnecessary to paint the material.
